Trying to find a headset for your Avaya phone?

July 7th, 2009

There are so many different Avaya headset connector cables that it can be quite a daunting task to find the correct one for your particular phone model. When you add in the confusion with all the name changes and spin offs, you have AT&T, Lucent and Avaya phones all with the same model numbers. Fear not! We have sorted it all out for you. All of the Avaya cables below are made to work with the Plantronics H-series headsets which have the black plastic rectangular QuickDisconnect at the end of the cord. The QuickDisconnect from the headset snaps onto the QuickDisconnect of the Avaya cable and then you simply plug the Avaya cable into phone’s dedicated headset port. There’s no need for an external amplifier. These phones are all headset-ready for direct connection to the H-series headsets. Here’s the key to all the Avaya phone headset cables:

Avaya IP 9620, 9630, 9640, 9650, 1608 and 1616 all use the Avaya HIS cable (Plantronics part number 72442-01): http://www.founderstelecom.com/dicohiscafor.html

I know this post is a little old, but I'm having trouble plugging my CS55 into a Call Master IV. I have the Plaintronics two pronged with a four prong jack on the end, but I can't seem to get a dial tone through the headset. It gives me the "three beeps" that you normally get when the phone is muted and that's it – any suggestions?
