Great new product for Shoretel IP Phone and Toshiba DP5000-Series Phone users with Plantronics wireless headsets!

July 7th, 2009

If you have a Shoretel IP 565G, IP 560G, IP 560, IP 230, IP 265, IP 530 or IP 212K or a Toshiba DP5000-Series Strata CIX Phone (DP5022-SD, DP5023-SD, DP5018-S) you can now get any Plantronics wireless headset (such as CS55, CS540, CS70, CS70N, CS351N, CS361N or Voyager 510S) and you do not need the HL10 handset lifter for remote call answer or end. Instead of getting the HL10, you should get the Plantronics RD-1 Ring Detector (part number 78887-01). It’s half the price of the lifter (only $23.95) and it’s a cleaner operation with no mechanical up and down motion to wear out. It uses electronic hookswitch, so you’ll just have this RD-1 Ring Detector connected in-line between your wireless headset base tower and your Shoretel IP, or Toshiba DP5000-series phone. Plantronics was able to create this product with the cooperation of Shoretel and Toshiba. If only more phone manufacturers would work together this way we’d have a lot more user-friendly products! Here’s the link to the product if you need it:

Also, if you have a Shoretel IP phone model above and you just want a traditional corded headset (not wireless), the good news is your phone is headset-ready for plug-and-play! Just get any Plantronics H-series headset along with the Polaris cable and that’s all you need (no amplifier required). If you click this link you will see the headsets already paired with the proper cable so it’s all included:

I have a shoretel 210, will the ring detector work for this type of model?

Why does the CS55 headset develop a "side by side" echo (repeat of everything one says to the headset owner)?
